That organic living is a conscious health choice
Exotic as it may sound, tahini is actually a humble yet tasty paste made from roasted and ground sesame seeds. Most commonly found in Mediterranean fare, tahini now features in many modern cuisines as condiments, in baked goods and sweets.
Even when consumed in small portions, tahini packs a nutritional punch: one tablespoon yields 90 calories, 2.5 grammes of protein, 3 grammes of carbohydrate, 1.5 grammes of fiber, and 8 grammes of total fat, of which 6.5 grammes are “good” healthy polyunsaturated and mono-unsaturated fats.
Dairy and gluten-free, those allergic to nuts or peanuts can use the versatile tahini as a substitute in recipes calling for nut butter.
